Super Heros: Super Power, or Super Person?

Everyone has dreamed of how their life would be better if they just had a superpower. The things we could accomplish with the ability to slow down time, fly or read people's minds.

All these powers will make your life so much easier. Expanding your earning potential so significantly, you gain fame and fortune as the most talented athlete, outstanding salesperson, or richest person in the world. All this is great, but none of those things makes you a superhero.

As Uncle Ben in Spiderman says, "With great power comes great responsibility."

Instead of responsibility, should we say "Availablity?"

All the power in the world doesn't make you a hero. Even with the ability to fly faster than a speeding bullet, you can still be lazy, selfish, a poor leader, and not a hero. However, taking the time to use that power for good earns you the title of "SUPERHERO." Simply, Being available when people need you the most. That makes all the difference.

As a leader, spouse, parent, or friend, your availability to other people's needs makes you super. The attention you give to the priorities of the people important to you is never a poor investment. It might not bear fruit immediately. But, it always yields a return equal to or greater than what you put in.

Your to-do list and daily distractions will always be there. Make people your priority, scheduling time with them. Be available for your employees, spouse, children, and the people you care about most. Be present at that moment, put down the phone, make eye contact, and listen without the intent to reply. You won't regret it.
